Burnham Plan Centennial

Digital Communications Consultant
Chicago Metropolis 2020

Chicago’s year-long, region-wide Burnham Plan Centennial initiative, celebrating Daniel Burnham’s 1909 Plan of Chicago, was coordinated and overseen by regional planning agency Chicago Metropolis 2020, a business-backed civic organization promoting healthy regional growth. As the digital communications consultant for the Centennial initiative, I populated and maintained the robust Burnham Plan Centennial website and wrote, designed and blasted the weekly E-Bulletins and E-Postcards to 2500 subscribers and 300 program partners.

With Mayor Richard M. Daley, Honorary Chair

During my tenure I edited the multimedia Educators Resource Guide which was distributed to hundreds of regional schools and libraries, and the 100-page Burnham Plan Centennial Final Report that was distributed to donors, sponsors, program partners and researchers.

Educating students at the Millennium Park Field Trip

In addition to digital communications, I researched and authored the final Project Summary of the temporary Burnham Pavilions, the architectural focal point of the Centennial. This comprehensive document was prepared to record the process of building these temporary pavilions in Millennium Park for the Centennial Committee and for future researchers using the Burnham Centennial archive at the Ryerson and Burnham Libraries of the Art Institute of Chicago. On site I gave tours and instructed visitors to the Pavilions, including more than 1200 third grade students during the Millennium Park Field trip.
